So, I spent this past weekend in Philadelphia, and though I have indeed acquired a new rum there, I haven’t yet had a chance to try it, so for now, I am going to talk about my first time trying an agricole, which I had at someone’s house party recently.

Review

Smell

The smell very much reminds me of pickled olives. Just briny and olive-y.

Taste

It’s grassy and olive-y. It’s really hard to describe in any other way. Maybe if I had more agricoles, I could point out some specific notes, but this straight up tastes like a pre-made dirty martini.

Verdict 3/10

I normally like a very funky rum, but this is not even close to the funk typical of some other nations. I would consider this rum closer to a tequila than a Jamaican rum. It’s very much a savory profile, and while I did finish my shot, I don’t think I know what to do with a rum of this profile. For that reason, it’s a 4. If you love agricole, you might very well love this rum, but it tastes the least like rum out of every rum that I have tried so far.
